Do you have your Crit’Air sticker?

WHAT IS THE CRIT’AIR STICKER?

It answers to 3 distinctive issues:

  • Ecological: the first goal of the Crit’Air sticker is to avoid pollution peaks due to cars that are too old and polluting
  • Economic:  the state would pay nearly 3 billion euros per year in health, according to the report of the Senate commission of inquiry on the economic and financial cost of air (July 2015)
  • Public health: all citizens are affected by the air quality, it is also strongly advised not to practice sports when there are peaks of pollution

HOW DOES THIS ANTI-POLLUTION STICKER WORK?

The principle of this sticker is to be able to classify vehicles by motorization and seniority, which will make it possible to evaluate their level of pollution. It comes in different colors: from green (for electric cars) to dark grey (for older diesel cars)

WHAT DO YOU RISK IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CRIT’AIR STICKER?

Since July 1, 2017, if you don’t have the sticker in restricted areas, you are subject to a fine depending on the vehicle type (truck, coaches and buses risk a larger fine).

For passenger cars and other vehicles, the fine is 68€ ; for heavy goods vehicles and coaches, it is 135€. If the sanction is not paid within 45 days, it will be increased to 180€ (375€ for trucks and coaches).
